BSF Student Success Skill Program Wraps-up with Pre-historic Putt
The Barrientos Scholarship Foundation proudly wrapped up the 2025 Student Success Skill Program, a fall semester series designed to help students build the life, academic, and career skills they need to thrive. From September to November, scholars gathered at the UNO Community Engagement Center for four powerful workshops led by exceptional professionals who poured their time, expertise, and encouragement into our students.
The semester opened with Life Choices & Decision Making featuring Don Bacon and Troy Romero, followed by a deeply impactful Health & Wellness session led by Dr. Hamza Haqqi, Ed.D., and Maggie Thorne. Students then explored practical money management during Financial Literacy with Francisco Sandoval and Mark Billington. The series closed with a dynamic Social Skills workshop presented by Rita Rodriguez and Carissa Rainey, giving students actionable tools for communication, leadership presence, and relationship-building.
To celebrate an incredible year of learning and growth, BSF hosted a lively Student Success Finale at Prehistoric Putt. Students came together for an afternoon competition on the prehistoric-themed course. It was one of our most spirited gatherings yet, a joyful reminder of the community our scholars continue to build together.
As we look toward 2026, BSF is excited to expand programming with even more workshops, speaker sessions, college-readiness support, and leadership development opportunities.
From all of us at BSF, thank you to our students, speakers, sponsors, board members, and coordinators for making 2025 a remarkable year.
We wish you and your families a warm and joyful holiday season, and we can’t wait to see you in the spring.
