BSF Announces New Business Student Ambassador, Marketing Intern Lesly Sanchez

When Lesly Sanchez found out that she was selected for a Barrientos Scholarship Foundation (BSF) internship in partnership with Lozafina this fall, she felt a mix of emotions: relief and excitement.

Not many college students like myself get an early career opportunity like this to be a business student ambassador and marketing intern, she said.

BSF began providing such opportunities for young people who showed potential in wanting to connect with their career fields and communities.

Lesly, an 18-year-old first-year student at the University of Nebraska at Omaha, is pursuing a degree in business administration.

“I just thought it was a scholarship foundation until I attended BSF’s Student Success Skill Program,” she said. That’s “where I learned the resources that they provided for their students, including this internship.”

Through connections that she made with BSF staff members, she learned about the internship opportunity.

While discussing why she chose BSF, Lesly responded: “BSF gave me a glimpse of what the Hispanic/Latine community looks like in Omaha, and it was beautiful.”

Lesly, a West Point transplant who has a passion for helping people, aspires to strengthen her business skills in college and at BSF while innovating ways to better help her community.

“What [BSF] does for the [community] is truly inspiring and something I want to contribute to for the rest of my life,” she said. “Giving back to the community that raised me and got me to where I am now is my biggest goal in life. I believe BSF is a great place to start my journey towards that goal.”

We’re excited to see what new, innovative ideas Lesly brings to the Barrientos Scholarship Foundation and grow support for our first-generation students.

Please join us in giving her a warm welcome.
