The Barrientos Scholarship Foundation was established in 2005 to assist students
with Latino heritage who reside in Nebraska in continuing their education and in pursuing their career goals.
The Barrientos family, with roots in Omaha, Nebraska that date back to the 1920's, have
long been known for their love of the arts, music and community involvement. Because of that love and commitment to continue that legacy,
this scholarship fund was created.
To complement the recognition of area youth via the awarding of scholarships, a
Latino Heritage Awards Banquet is held annually during Hispanic Heritage Month.
The Latino Heritage Awards recognize area Latinos who have made a positive impact in their communities and in the organizations they serve.
It also serves as the primary annual fundraiser for the Barrientos Scholarship Foundation.
