Application Process

After verifying that you meet all of the qualifications please complete the following application process.

Carefully review requirements and deadlines to ensure you have time to collect information from external sources (transcripts and letters of recommendation) prior to application deadline.

Application Packet

• Complete Scholarship Application Form

• Complete Personal Essay
  
  Write a personal essay and include information on your family background, educational and career goals, commitment to the Latina/o community, financial need, and any other relevant information. For those applying for Arts, Medical, or Education awards, let us know what is inspiring you to pursue your chosen field of study.
  
  
• Obtain two (2) Letters of Recommendation
  
  Letter should comment on the applicant’s activities and behaviors that demonstrate extracurricular involvement, leadership, motivation, self-discipline, and community involvement.
  Must be written by mentors in the community (i.e. teacher, choral director, band instructor, community leaders, etc.), not by family members or relatives.
  
  
• Provide official high school or college transcript
  
  In order for application to be considered, the above documents must be sent as one complete packet by the posted deadline.

Award Notification, Recognition and Disbursement

• Award recipients will be notified on or before May 31, 2010.
  
  
• Award recipients will be recognized at the annual Latino Heritage Awards Banquet to be held September 24, 2010 at the Harper Center on the Creighton University campus. Please plan on attending the banquet, along with your parents, as our guests.
  
  
• Scholarship money will be sent directly to the college or university that you’re attending upon receipt of verification of your enrollment.
