Committees

Each year, we reach out to members of the community to serve on the following committees:

• Scholarship Award Selection Committee

  Review and score scholarship applications to determine which students will receive scholarship awards. The committee meets in May/June. Time committment depends upon the number of scholarship applications received, but generally scoring can be completed in several hours spanning across two to three evenings.
  
  

• Community Leader Selection Committee

  Nominate and select community leaders to be honored at the Latino Heritage Awards Banquet. The committee meets a single time during the June/July timeframe. Prior to meeting, committee members are asked to consider candidates for each category. If a committee member cannot make the committee meeting, they may submit their nominations (along with reason for recommendation) via email to the committee chairman prior to the meeting. During the meeting, nominations are reviewed, discussed, and voted upon.
  
  

• Banquet Committee

  The Board of Directors generally serves as the committee for banquet planning. However, members of the community with an interest in helping are always welcome! High school and college students serve as volunteers to help with a variety of tasks the evening of the banquet.
